Space Shuttle Fly-Over

feller469

Moving to a trailer in Fife, AL.
Got up early this morning and saw the Space Shuttle on its approach. It was just a brighter than usual light in the sky, but the double sonic boom was cool. Sounded like a couple of shotgun blasts.

Never got to see one take off, but I got to see this.

Pretty cool. I saw that "re-entry garbage"--as the authorities called it-- explode across the horizon several years ago. It was like watching a really big meteor, only with flames coming behind. Guess it's time for the "next generation" of reusable spacecraft.

Seen and heard it a number of times when I lived in O'ville back in the 1980s. Very cool....and very sad to see America's leadership in the exploration of space pass into oblivion.

I am bummed us as Americans have ended our space program.

It was something we could have been proud of for years to come.

Oh well...lets build a monument or something now collectively as a country.

Yeah this sucks and now hearing the Russians gloating now and the 63 million dollars they will charge us for a seat on their rockets its just pitiful!!

It wouldn't be bad if we were in the process of building the successor to the shuttle as its being retired but we have nothing on the drawing board!!!

Hell we even test fired the most powerful rocket engine ever made but the project was scrapped!!

Its sad because this is just another sign that out country is going down the shitter and we will soon be looking up to China!!!! We need to get our fingers out of our assess!!

Extremely sad that no one knows when that is going to be. If all those nasa workers getting laid off doesnt drive the point home about how bad this economy has gotten I dont know what will.
